Any tax return that I receive after 4/1 is charged additionally. This has been the policy for several years now. It is to prevent having delays in gathering all documents.
Any tax return documentation not received by 4/8 is put on extension mostly as a precaution and can hopefully be prepared timely.
It can take some time to make sure that e-file transmissions are accepted – both federal and state. If there are any issues, it must be investigated and resent. If they are not accepted by the 15th, they are late. Therefore, I cut off on 4/12 completely to give time to handle the e-filing. Any returns brought to me at that point are definitely extended.
When extensions are filed, the amount owed is to be paid with the extension. I must know what is due to make sure any client pays to avoid penalty and interest. I need time to prepare to determine that, so please make sure that I have documentation prior to 4/8.
If you have not brought your information to me yet, please do so as soon as possible.
This year has been like none other. I have been surprised how most everyone had their paperwork together early. While I worked quite hard trying to meet the corporate deadline on 3/15 at the same time, I am very grateful how smoothly this tax season has progressed compared to prior years.
THANK YOU!!!!! 😊
